" Dear Dennis,

I just upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. Now, every time I boot the computer, I receive an error message that 'AMD Quick Stream Error: The license information to use this software is not found'. I have absolutely no idea what that means. Can you help? "

My response:

I asked Barry if he'd like me to connect to his machine and review this problem together using my remote desktop service, and he agreed. Sure enough, after every reboot the "AMD Quick Stream Error" message appeared on the desktop. I queried Google for the exact phrase: "AMD Quick Stream Error: The license information to use this software is not found," and came across several posts - including AMD's website which explains what the Quick Stream does.

What is AMD Quick Stream Technology?

According to AMD's website, the Quick Stream Technology is an Internet optimization software program that prioritizes data flow in and out of the PC (depending on apps that are in use and resources that are available), offering end users a "smoother and enhanced Internet experience." That is my own paraphrased version of what the software does, though if you read AMD's description, it is much more technical and geekier than that.

How to Fix: "AMD Quick Stream Error: The license information to use this software is not found"

In a nutshell, the reason this error message keeps re-appearing after every reboot is because the upgrade to Windows 10 has somehow corrupted a software component related to AMD APU settings (and some video cards), which then flags this error message. For the record, an APU is a CPU with a video card built onto the chip. The easiest way to fix this problem is to reinstall the AMD Quick Stream Technology, which is available for free from AMD's website:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDQuickStreamTechnology.aspx

Once you're on the page, simply click the link that says: "Download AMD Quick Stream Technology", then save the file, then run it. When the file has finished installing, reboot the computer and the "AMD Quick Stream Error: The license information to use this software is not found" message should disappear. If it does not, you can contact me for additional support - described next.

Worked fine, just restarted and, not there!
Now, anything about all those ads that SLOW down page loading,(my biggest peeve, even w/30mps speeds)?
Read your letter daily, Dennis.
Keep 'em coming!
Thanks, Keith.
