Oklahoma Twitter Terrorist Stopped by Authorities
Now that Oprah's Twittering, it's only fair that America's weirdoes follow her onto the popular social networking site. Recently, an Oklahoma City man was arrested after threatening to go on a killing rampage over his tax return.
In a Twitter post two weeks ago, Daniel Knight Hayden -- known to his Twitter friends as CitizenQuasar -- encouraged pals to join him in a bloody and brutal protest against the government over what CNET is reporting was a tax disagreement.
"START THE KILLING NOW! I am willing to be the FIRST DEATH!," read Hayden's April 11th post. He followed that shortly afterwards with, "After I am killed on the Capitol Steps, like a REAL man, the rest of you will REMEMBER ME!!!" (Source: cnet.com)
Not a Big Fan of Gun Control
The 52-year-old Hayden sent many of his tweets to Earl Shaffer, who some believe might have had some connection to CitizenQuasar's deadly plans. 58-year-old Shaffer denies any link to Hayden or his protest against the government, dubbed the "Tea Party."
"He called me a few days before that tea party and let me know somehow he got my name as one of the organizers. I don't have the energy," said the retiree.
Hayden's MySpace page provides a little glimpse of CitizenQuasar's intensely right-wing, anti-government political stance. He equates gun laws with totalitarianism and genocide, believing that gun control doesn't stop violence, it just puts the death-dealing tools in the hands of government dictators.
"Locked AND loaded for the Oklahoma State Capitol..."
It doesn't appear he is willing to help stamp out violence, either.
"I really don't give a (expletive) anymore. Send the cops around. I will cut their heads off the heads and throw [them] on the State Capitol steps," he says in one post.
Even that kind of language wasn't quite enough to have Hayden arrested, but when he announced on Twitter that he was "Locked AND loaded for the Oklahoma State Capitol," the authorities moved in.
Hayden was arraigned April 16, but released shortly thereafter into an Oklahoma City halfway house. That seems to suggest that Hayden is not as threatening as alter ego CitizenQuasar. (Source: wired.com)
Oklahoma City residents and officials had better hope so.
