Mobile Phones Double As TiVo Remotes
Have you ever forgot to make the necessary arrangements needed to record your favorite TV show? Sometimes we know to record the show well in advance, yet we keep putting it off -- and eventually forget altogether. While this might not be one of the most crucial topics in the world, having to miss one week of a preferred television program can really become a nuisance.
What do you do if you miss a show? Ask a friend what happened? They always leave out best parts of the story. Do you search the Internet for a quick recap? It's never the same as the real thing. If only you had been home to set the video recorder...
Fortunately, TiVo has launched a new website that will constantly keep you in touch with your digital video recorder no matter where you are in the world. All you have to do is take out an Internet-based mobile phone and in a few clicks you'll be back to where you left off in the plot.
Previously, users were only able to schedule recordings remotely via TiVo.com using a computer. (Source: usatoday.com)
The new mobile website displays a search engine allowing users to browse shows under keyword, actor, title and even director categories. Many should already be familiar with this process as it is the same one used in the TiVo set-top box at home.
But what if you forget to set the TiVo until the television show is over?
TiVo makes this virtually impossible with "Season Pass". This feature will automatically record every episode of your favorite television program after only one setting.
The catch, of course, is that users will have to be TiVo subscribers to browse the site for shows.
The new mobile service, available at m.tivo.com, will initially launch in a "beta" testing phase. TiVo has promised that it will become more widely available in the weeks ahead. (Source: techcrunch.com)
