Design Professional Looking Forms in Access 2007 Using the Ribbon

The predefined layout features in Access 2007 can eliminate a lot of the manual work and trepidation involved in designing forms.

You can now group, align and format your controls, all from the Forms Design Tools Ribbon with a few clicks of the mouse.

The example below shows you how to design a customer contact form from your Customer Records table.

Follow along with the steps below:

  1. Launch MS Access.
     
  2. Open the Customer database and click the Customer Records table in the Navigation pane.
     
  3. Click the Create tab.
     
  4. Click the Form Design command in the Forms group.
     
  5. Click the Add Existing Fields button in the Tools group.
     
  6. Click a field in the Field list and drag it to your form.
     
  7. Do this for each field you want on the form.
     
  8. Press Ctrl |A to select all the fields on the form.
     
  9. Click the Arrange tab.
     
  10. Click the Stacked icon in the Control Layout group.
     
  11. Click the Control Padding command in the Control Layout group and select Medium.
     
  12. Click the AutoFormat button in the AutoFormat group and select the format of your choice.
