Desktop Faxing in MS Word 2007 Using your Modem
Philip recently wrote to inquire:
I would like to ask if it is possible to still send a fax through MS Word 2007 without actually having to connect to the Internet because since I upgraded to MS Office 2007, the option that used to allow me to send faxes through Word 2003 is no longer available. I hope you can help.
My Reply:
You can easily send faxes from your computer instead of a stand-alone fax machine and you can indeed send a fax using Microsoft Word using your modem instead of the Internet
Follow the steps below to fax with MS Word 2007:
- Open your document in MS Word.
- Click the Office button and select Print.
- You can also use the shortcut of CTRL + P.
- The Print dialog box will open.
- Use the drop-down menu at the top of the Print box to select you fax modem as the Printer.
- Click OK to start the Send Fax Wizard.
- The Print dialog box will close and the Send Fax Wizard will open.
- The first box that opens will welcome you to the Send Fax Wizard. Click Next.
- Enter Names and fax numbers into the Send Fax Wizard.
- You can click the Address Book button to choose a name and fax number from your Outlook address book or you can type the information into the To and Fax boxes.
- Click to add recipients to the list at the bottom.
- Click next.
- Choose whether or not to include a cover page.
- If you decide to click the cover page checkbox, the Wizard will prompt you for a subject and a note. The Wizard will automatically fill in the details that Word collected when you set up the program, such as your name and contact information.
- Click Next.
- You will have three options for scheduling. You can send it now or choose to send it when discount rates apply. You can also enter a specific hour and minute.
- Once you have scheduled your fax, click Next.
- Check the details and preview your fax.
- Click the Finish button to send your fax.
I hope this has been helpful to you Philip!
